Glossary

• LED: A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source. LED lights are used as indicator lights in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting such as automotive lighting, household lighting.
• SMD/SMT: Surface mount technology (SMT) is a method for constructing electronic circuits. An electronic device so made is called a surface mount device (SMD).
• High Power LED: is likely to replace other technologies such as incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs in signaling, solid state lighting, and auto headlights because they save energy and extend the light's lifetime.
• Flux: also known as luminous flux or luminous power is the measure of the perceived power of light.
• Lum: the lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI derived unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source.
• HID: High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps produce light with an electric arc rather than a glowing filament.
